Hours: Part Time; 10-20 hours per week
Summary: The Bilingual Community Navigator plays a vital role in supporting the Clinical and Program Director in the Spanish-speaking initiatives of CSCLA. This position is responsible for leading support groups for individuals impacted by cancer and offering brief counseling services to individuals, couples, and families. The Navigator is instrumental in facilitating orientation sessions, conducting initial assessments, promoting program outreach, connecting participants with resources, and supporting the Child, Teen & Family program. The role requires a commitment to embodying CSCLA's mission and values, with potential weekend and evening hours. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct intake interviews and develop tailored support plans in collaboration with the Clinical and Program Director.
- Facilitate support groups in alignment with the Cancer Support Community model.
- Provide brief counseling sessions for individuals, couples, and families using a brief therapy approach.
- Lead orientation sessions for new Spanish-speaking participants and assist with the registration process.
- Document all patient interactions, including intake and progress notes, attendance records, and contact logs.
- Maintain accurate monthly records and attendance sheets for support groups.
- Participate in regular training, supervision meetings, and team discussions relevant to responsibilities.
- Coordinate substitute coverage for planned absences and notify the Clinical and Program Director of any unplanned absences.
- Support Spanish-speaking membership recruitment efforts to broaden service outreach.
- Assist in creating and distributing promotional materials in Spanish to enhance membership and participation.
- Administer Support Care Plans and follow-up calls for new members in both Spanish and English.
- Connect participants with various resources, including financial and transportation assistance.
- Establish and nurture relationships with community organizations and healthcare systems to enhance resource availability.
- Represent the agency at outreach events and partnerships.

Compensation: $35-40 per hour

Licensure: Candidates must be actively pursuing licensure as a psychotherapist in California, with proof of a master’s degree and malpractice insurance required.
