Executive Culinary Leader

Deschutes Brewery is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team in Bend, OR. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for overseeing the Back of House (BOH) functions and team, including expediting, food preparation, ordering, scheduling, cost management, training, and employee development.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Team Management: Provide support and motivation to all Back of House (BOH) employees to maintain our quality standards and expected presentation; teach cooking techniques, food preparation, and plating.
- Cleanliness and Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and equipment.
- Mentorship and Training: Mentor and train all BOH staff, ensuring Deschutes Brewery quality standards are met.
- Shift Management and Communication: Manage shifts and communicate at a high level with the Executive Chef.
- Availability: Must be able to work weekends.
- Culinary Experience: 5 years of line cooking experience, preferably in a fast-paced, full-service establishment.
- Management Experience: 2+ years of kitchen management experience preferred.
- Certifications: Valid Oregon food handlers or Serve safe card, and a valid OLCC permit within 30 days of hire.
- Leadership Skills: Outgoing, positive, and supportive leader.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and provide basic maintenance support to kitchen facilities.
- Technical Skills: Skilled knowledge of Excel and common restaurant software.
- Culinary Education: Culinary education or equivalent experience with scratch and batch cooking preferred.
