Job Summary:

As a key member of the Kaiser Permanente team, the Area Director of Sales and Retention will be responsible for leading the long-term strategic direction of sales and retention strategies for health insurance or workers compensation accounts. This individual will establish best practices for utilizing resources, technology tools, and customer performance data to meet competitive revenue and growth targets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Development: Prepare individuals for growth opportunities and advancement, build internal collaborative networks, and drive collaboration to set goals and provide open feedback and coaching to foster performance improvement.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee the operation of multiple units within a department, identify member and operational needs, and ensure the management of work assignment completion.
  • Customer Engagement: Establish long-term strategic direction for team member communications with customers, consultants, brokers, and/or channels, and resolve escalations when needed.
  • Business Growth: Direct the team to meet or exceed challenging targets for retention and growth for accounts in the Book of Business, and establish company-wide Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Sales and Renewals: Direct broad strategy for RFR processes, troubleshoot and resolve escalations when necessary, and establish and promote best practices for teams sales and renewals.
  • Communication: Direct teams across organizations to collaborate on account strategy, and ensure alignment with company-wide long-term objectives.
Requirements:
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports.
  • Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Social/Physical/Life Science, Business, or related field AND minimum nine (9) years of experience in sales, customer service, telemarketing, account management, health plan administration, insurance, or a directly related field OR minimum twelve (12) years of experience in sales, customer service, telemarketing, account management, health plan administration, insurance, or a directly related field.
