Company Overview: North Wind Site Services specializes in engineering, program management, and environmental remediation services. Our focus includes investigation and characterization, environmental restoration, unexploded ordnance response, regulatory public involvement, environmental compliance, logistics, and records management.
ROLE SUMMARY:
The RCRA Compliance Specialist – Materials Management Expert will leverage expertise in RCRA, TSCA, and other federal and state waste regulations. This role encompasses quality assurance and control, waste determinations, and waste sampling and characterization utilizing prior knowledge, laboratory results, and Safety Data Sheets (SDSs). The specialist will also be responsible for entering waste-related data into government systems, including waste characterization and tracking information.
This position is primarily based at the Hazardous Waste Consolidation Facility (HWCF) and may require travel to various waste accumulation points, including remote training areas.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interpret and apply standards set forth by RCRA, TSCA, CERCLA, and OSHA.
- Conduct waste characterization sampling as necessary.
- Perform waste determinations and characterize waste using prior knowledge and analytical results.
- Package and ship samples to laboratories, ensuring compliance with chain of custody protocols.
- Maintain accurate records and data entry using government systems.
- Adhere to safety program requirements and company policies.
- Provide exceptional customer service and maintain professionalism.
- Serve in a quality assurance and control capacity.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Identify RCRA program deficiencies through visual inspections.
- Assist in inspections at various waste accumulation areas.
- Support Accumulation Area Managers in compliance issue resolution.
- Communicate program requirements and improvement suggestions to management.
- Adapt to changing priorities and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision.
- Operate light and heavy vehicles and equipment as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma required.
- Minimum of three years of relevant RCRA experience.
- Strong knowledge of RCRA regulations and waste management practices.
SKILLS:
- Ability to interpret regulatory documents and safety plans.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
