Role Responsibilities:

The Metallurgical Specialist will report to the Metallurgical Superintendent, primarily responsible for executing routine and non-routine plant sampling as instructed, and efficiently reporting results within the Processing Department. This position also entails ensuring the safe and effective operation of all metallurgical equipment in the plant.


Key Duties Include:

  • Conducting regular gold-in-circuit (GIC) surveys and preparing samples.
  • Collecting, pressing, and drying slurry samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Performing routine slurry bottle-roll tests.
  • Maintaining HCN (Hydrogen Cyanide) portable monitors.
  • Operating and maintaining online cyanide analyzers.
  • Managing online particle size indicators.
  • Conducting lab-scale flotation and fine grinding.
  • Overseeing lab consumables inventory and ordering supplies.
  • Restocking reagents for in-plant metallurgical analysis equipment.
  • Developing and executing metallurgical lab tests to replicate plant conditions and identify operational issues.
  • Reporting results promptly within the Processing Department metallurgy section.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and MSHA regulations, including hazard identification, pre-start checks, and incident reporting.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness in all work areas.
  • Performing additional duties as required.

Candidate Profile:

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in the mining sector; exceptional candidates without mining experience may also be considered.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to foster collaborative relationships.
  • Attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Pronto, and INX.
  • Ability to read and write English at a GED level.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to evolving procedures and practices.
  • Familiarity with the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.
  • Must pass a background check and post-offer physical examination.

Work Schedule:

This position requires a flexible work schedule of 15 days on and 13 days off, with shifts lasting up to 12 hours or more at a remote campsite. Candidates should be prepared for extreme conditions, including varying weather, dust, noise levels, and confined workspaces.

Employees will reside on-site at the company-provided camp during their work rotation, which includes dining services, recreational facilities, and comfortable accommodations.
