Position Overview: The Chief Operations Officer will oversee, coordinate, and manage all operational functions for KCI Construction, ensuring the establishment and execution of effective processes and cost-efficient systems to address both current and future operational demands.

A collaborative individual with a commitment to making a positive impact, adept at building strong relationships, and representing the interests of the business community and industry partnerships. Strategic foresight and long-term planning are essential in decision-making, complemented by a commitment to fiscal responsibility. As a catalyst for change, active participation in corporate improvement initiatives is vital. The ideal candidate will possess an authentic leadership style, prioritizing personal and team development as key to organizational success.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Guide the operations of the KCI Springfield office by implementing and communicating the strategic vision of the organization, including preconstruction, estimating, and operational functions.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to establish and achieve company objectives while providing expertise and guidance on operational projects and systems.
  • Execute the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Ensure that departmental decisions and project plans align with the organization's overarching business strategy and vision.
  • Develop, communicate, and enforce policies, practices, standards, and security measures related to operations to guarantee effective and consistent support and execution.
  • Review and authorize cost-control reports, project cost estimates, and staffing needs.
  • Manage the departmental budget effectively.
  • Deliver regular performance reports and metrics to senior leadership.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends in operations management and the construction sector.
  • Identify training requirements and ensure appropriate training programs are developed and implemented.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in general contracting and with the Department of Transportation is preferred.
  • Previous experience in preconstruction roles is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching experience is essential.
  • Prior involvement in business development is a plus.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

The role is typically performed in an office environment. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. There is limited exposure to physical risks, and the noise level in the office is generally quiet. While fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, the employee will be required to sit, talk, and hear. Occasionally, the employee may need to stand, walk, use hands for dexterity, reach with hands and arms, or stoop and kneel. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
