POSITION: Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist

STATUS: Salary-Exempt

ROLE SUMMARY

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the Environment, Health, and Safety department at Power Systems Manufacturing, LLC. This position involves overseeing the daily operations of the industrial waste management program, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and maintaining accurate documentation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure adherence to state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Maintain compliance in Central Accumulation Areas and Satellite Accumulation Areas throughout the facility.
  • Assist in developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures for waste management.
  • Oversee the decontamination and disposal of empty containers in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Support recycling initiatives by collecting and storing recyclable materials.
  • Prepare waste containers for shipment, ensuring proper closure and documentation.
  • Utilize various tools for loading and unloading waste containers.
  • Monitor compliance at Points of Generation and correct any discrepancies.
  • Communicate effectively regarding hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct inspections and facilitate data collection for regulatory reporting.
  • Support both internal and external audits.
  • Manage environmental issues, including chemical spills, while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation & Training
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Chemistry, Environmental Engineering) or equivalent experience.
  • Completion of EHS regulatory training as required.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License and ability to operate forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Knowledge of RCRA, EPA, DOT, and OSHA regulations is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Previous training in DOT Hazardous Waste Management.
  • Experience with electronic EHS management systems.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 2 years in hazardous waste management, with a focus on environmental compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail in a quality-driven environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to wear protective equipment and handle physical demands of the job.
  • Willingness to work in various environmental conditions.
  • Ability to travel as required.
