Role Summary

The Mechanical Project Engineer will deliver both onsite and remote assistance to assess part acceptance and conduct evaluations related to operational and installation issues concerning PSM and OEM Compressor, Combustion, and Hot Gas Path components for Industrial Gas Turbines (IGT). This role will collaborate with various Product Line sectors to scrutinize mechanical, material, and engine data to assess hardware condition and provide recommendations for operation, lifecycle, and repair.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary support and initial contact for technical inquiries, product evaluations, and resolutions related to assembly/disassembly challenges and operational issues of PSM and OEM Compressor, Combustor, and Hot Gas Path components for a range of Industrial Gas Turbines.
  • Contribute to project management efforts to aid in the formulation of outage and installation protocols and timelines.
  • Identify, devise, and coordinate corrective measures for deviations in components arising from manufacturing and service processes.
  • Comprehend and articulate customer issues and collaborate with PSM Field Service Engineering, PSM Project Management, PSM Reconditioning Engineering, and PSM R&D Engineering to ensure technical objectives, commercial commitments, and operational needs are met.
  • Initiate and support Root Cause Analyses (RCA), product non-conformances, and 8D analyses in line with established Quality initiatives, providing insights into processes and tools to document fleet and field challenges.
  • Coordinate and deliver technical insights and resolutions in Field Service reports.
  • Conduct inspections and evaluations of deployed PSM Compressor, Combustor, and Hot Gas Path components as necessary for design life validation and support of commercial initiatives.
  • Document and communicate technical recommendations and findings in reports and specifications for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant facility rules, regulations, and company policies among all associates and operations.
  • Maintain availability via a company-provided mobile device to respond during both working and non-working hours.
  • Advocate for a safe working environment through existing EHS initiatives and the proposal of new safety measures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education & Training:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Completion of EHS assigned regulatory training as outlined by PSM's EHS Training Matrix.

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the design, manufacturing, and implementation of industrial gas turbine components.
  • At least 3 years of experience with E/F (or G/H)-Class industrial gas turbine systems and associated Compressor/Turbine/Casing hardware.
  • General understanding of various manufacturing processes, machining, repair technologies, and fabrication methods.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient in team collaboration and clear communication of requests and requirements.
  • Ability to anticipate and meet customer needs effectively.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated commitment to EHS leadership, including personal accountability for accident prevention and proactive safety engagement.
  • Encouragement of continuous improvement and innovative approaches to achieving objectives.
  • Fieldwork and travel (Domestic and/or International) required, approximately 10% – 30%.
