Join Our Team as a Lead Reinsurance Operations Manager

Ameriprise Financial is seeking a dynamic individual for the role of Lead Reinsurance Operations Manager. This pivotal leadership role is tasked with managing the reinsurance administration for our diverse portfolio, which includes life insurance, disability income, and fixed annuities. The successful candidate will ensure the precision and timeliness of monthly premium billing and reinsurance claim recovery processes, utilizing the TAI reinsurance administration system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the monthly premium billing processes to external reinsurers.
  • Ensure that reinsured claims are processed efficiently and with a high standard of quality.
  • Maintain compliance with various reinsurance treaties and agreements.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all external reinsurers, addressing inquiries promptly.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including underwriting and claims, on reinsurance-related matters.
  • Work closely with the reinsurance officer to resolve complex issues.
  • Manage both domestic and offshore support staff effectively.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of life insurance and disability income products.
  • Proven experience in leading billing administration processes.
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis for operational issues.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the capability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster effective relationships.
  • Strong leadership capabilities in managing diverse teams.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze data and derive insights.
  • Ability to navigate and understand complex issues across various disciplines.
  • Proficient in managing multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or knowledge in life, disability, and annuity reinsurance.
  • Prior experience managing offshore teams.
  • Familiarity with the TAI reinsurance administration system.
  • Experience in reinsurance regulatory reporting.
