Job Overview:


A prominent property and casualty firm is in search of a Lead Catastrophe Risk Analyst to contribute to a specialized team focused on natural hazards, catastrophe risk assessment, and insurance risk modeling.

This role will support the high net worth homeowners sector while also engaging with the corporate enterprise risk management division on various initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Generate the monthly portfolio modeling report and present insights to senior leadership.

2. Conduct modeled catastrophe bond (CAT) analyses for property pricing, portfolio optimization, and aggregation management.

This involves executing scenario impact analyses in collaboration with product and actuarial teams, as well as evaluating the effects of potential changes in rates, deductibles, or guidelines.

3. Perform pre-bind analyses for significant property new business submissions.

4. Collaborate with the analytics team to ensure precise data reporting for modeling purposes.

5. Work alongside the actuarial team to establish suitable CAT loads for rate assessments.

6. Partner with claims and actuarial teams to estimate ultimate CAT losses following events.

7. Analyze and comprehend the effects of historical or probable CAT events on the business portfolio.

8. Conduct comparative studies on CAT performance relative to industry peers post-CAT events.

9. Develop quarterly catastrophe modeling and aggregation reports for the organization and its subsidiaries.

10. Create visualizations and mapping for property exposure.

11. Enhance and implement improved catastrophe reporting processes.

12. Assist in fulfilling rating agency and regulatory requirements.

13. Actively participate in the catastrophe management team by sharing knowledge and expertise within the organization.

14. Provide comprehensive catastrophe modeling and analysis throughout the entire modeling cycle.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

• Over 5 years of experience in catastrophe modeling.

• Basic SQL skills; advanced SQL skills are preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Visual Basic for Applications is preferred.

• Familiarity with Python or Power BI is preferred.

• Experience in analyzing and reporting data from extensive relational databases.

• Strong mathematical and statistical capabilities.

• Advanced knowledge of catastrophe modeling techniques; strong RMS RiskLink expertise is preferred.

• Willingness to engage with operating companies.

• An enthusiastic, proactive, and inquisitive nature.

• Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines.


• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey CAT modeling concepts clearly to a diverse audience of insurance and reinsurance professionals.
