Job Overview

Martin/Martin, Inc. is in search of a skilled Professional Engineer to enhance our Investigative Engineering Group. This role offers the chance to engage in structural design for a variety of projects across different sectors including healthcare, commercial, sports, and residential.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound judgment in the assessment, selection, and application of established structural design methodologies. This position requires the ability to work independently while effectively managing project communications and ensuring quality control through meticulous checks of calculations and documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Possess a robust understanding of building codes and materials, applying them effectively in design.
  • Utilize computer-aided design software, particularly AutoDesk Revit, to create comprehensive construction documents.
  • Prepare detailed project documentation, including reports, calculations, and drawings.
  • Conduct quality-control assessments of produced work.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure cohesive structural design.
  • Support project construction administration, including reviewing shop drawings and responding to RFIs.
  • Stay informed about products and construction methodologies.
  • Participate in technical training opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative environment with colleagues at Martin/Martin, Inc.
  • Work additional hours as needed to meet project demands.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and other project stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior staff in design techniques and software applications.
  • Assist the Project Manager in developing and executing project-specific QA/QC plans.
  • Support monitoring of design budgets and project timelines when required.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Registered Professional Engineer.
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of four years of relevant engineering experience (advanced degrees may count for one year).

Preferred:

  • Proven ability to instill confidence in clients and supervisors through strong communication and technical skills.
  • Experience in designing and coordinating small to medium-sized projects within established timeframes and budgets.
  • Track record of overseeing engineering projects from design inception to construction completion.
  • Effective time management skills for project planning and execution.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Active participation in professional engineering organizations.
  • Possession of a PE license in the state of residence.
  • Successful completion of the 16-hour structural engineering examination.
