Position Overview

AECOM is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structural Engineering Discipline Lead for immediate employment.

The selected candidate will be part of AECOM's Transportation Business Line, engaging in a range of design-build civil engineering projects for various public and private sector clients.

Projects span across multiple regions, and while the role will involve some travel for site visits and client meetings, it is primarily an office-based position.

The candidate will work in collaboration with colleagues to ensure project objectives are met while adhering to company standards.

This role includes managing project or structural tasks on significant projects and supervising a team of professional and entry-level engineers.

The responsibilities of this position encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Providing technical leadership in specialized areas.
  • Applying extensive knowledge of engineering principles across diverse assignments.
  • Making independent decisions on technical challenges and representing the organization in discussions.
  • Addressing critical issues and coordinating work plans.
  • Utilizing advanced techniques and adapting theories and practices from related fields.
  • Offering supervision and guidance on overarching objectives and policy matters.
  • Receiving direction on unique situations and developments.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 8 years of relevant experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with NYDOT / NYSTA standards.
  • Familiarity with local municipal and state clients.
  • Design-build experience and knowledge of local contractors.
