Team Structure: The Manufacturing Engineering division, located in Latham, NY, comprises a diverse group of 10 Manufacturing Engineers along with additional roles such as Tool Designers, Industrial Engineers, and IT specialists. This team is at the forefront of innovative advancements in manufacturing methodologies and controls.

Collaboration: The Manufacturing Engineering team collaborates closely with departments such as Design & Drafting, Design Engineering, Product Industrialization, Procurement, and Quality Assurance. Co-located with Research & Development, the team engages with Design to explore and implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) strategies that enhance customer satisfaction.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Delivering technical assistance to the manufacturing sector to achieve exceptional operational performance.
  • Ensuring robust production processes through effective capability and control, including comprehensive process documentation.
  • Leading the development of process tooling to enhance error-proofing and promote safe, efficient labor practices.
  • Initiating and sustaining continuous improvement efforts (Kaizen events) within your area of expertise.
  • Facilitating Structured Problem Solving to address deviations from daily management expectations.
  • Overseeing the creation and maintenance of Technical Product (Standard Work) documentation.
  • Collaborating with Environmental Health & Safety, Design, Quality, and Operations teams to ensure smooth design transitions to production.
  • Establishing and maintaining adherence to budgets, timelines, work plans, and performance metrics.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as Microsoft Project, Visio, Excel (Advanced), LabView, Inventor, and AutoCAD.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent progressive experience in specialized applications.
  • Experience with cryogenic systems and ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing principles, quality assurance, and product engineering.
  • Understanding of environmental, health, safety, and quality regulations.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Manual and semi-automated fabrication and welding processes.
    • Electro-Mechanical assembly techniques including winding and wiring.
    • High vacuum and cryogenic processing.
    • Implementation of automation solutions.
