Position Overview: Senior Buyer

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Buyer will oversee the bidding process and exhibit a thorough understanding of pricing strategies.
  • This role requires a solid grasp of the buying life cycle stages.
  • Collaboration with the contracting team to ensure all documentation is completed accurately is essential.
  • The Senior Buyer will manage the procurement process from initiation to completion.
  • Responding to various procurement requests, averaging 6-7 daily, will be a key duty.
  • Handling complex and large-scale procurement initiatives will be part of the role.
  • Proficiency in analyzing procurement data using Excel is required.
  • The Senior Buyer will dedicate specific days to manage the procurement email inbox.
  • Oversight of the RFX process will be a responsibility of this position.
  • Assisting fellow buyers and completing additional tasks and projects as needed will be expected.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 years of procurement experience is required (more than 6 years is preferred if the candidate lacks a degree).
  • Ability to thrive in a cross-functional environment and engage with diverse cultures is essential.
  • A degree is advantageous but not mandatory for candidates with relevant experience.
  • Strong administrative skills and experience are necessary.
  • Previous experience in the nonprofit sector is beneficial but not required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Teams, and Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUPs), is essential.

  • The ideal candidate will manage multiple procurement projects effectively and have experience negotiating large-scale procurement agreements.
  • Self-management and the ability to stay focused on tasks are crucial.
  • A self-motivated individual with clear written and verbal communication skills is preferred.
  • A team player with experience working in diverse, multicultural, and cross-functional teams is ideal.
