Position Overview: Senior Buyer

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Buyer will oversee the procurement process, ensuring effective bid management and pricing comprehension.
  • This role requires a solid understanding of the buying life cycle.
  • Collaboration with the contracting team is essential to ensure all documentation is completed accurately.
  • The Senior Buyer will manage the procurement process from initiation to completion.
  • Responding to approximately 6-7 procurement requests daily will be a key part of this role.
  • Handling complex and large-scale procurement activities will be a significant responsibility.
  • Analyzing procurement data using Excel will be required.
  • The Senior Buyer will have designated days for managing the procurement email inbox.
  • Oversight of the RFX process will be part of the duties.
  • Assisting fellow buyers and completing additional tasks as needed will also be expected.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 years of procurement experience is required (more than 6 years if the candidate lacks a degree).
  • Experience working in a cross-functional environment with diverse cultures is essential.
  • A degree is advantageous but not mandatory for candidates with relevant experience.
  • Strong administrative skills and experience are necessary.
  • Previous experience in the nonprofit sector is beneficial but not required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Teams, and Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUPs) is expected.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • The ability to manage multiple procurement projects while demonstrating experience in negotiating significant procurement agreements.
  • Self-management and the ability to stay focused on tasks are crucial.
  • A self-motivated individual is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • A team player with experience in diverse, multicultural, and cross-functional teams is preferred.
