Position Overview: Senior Buyer

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Buyer will oversee the procurement process, managing bids and showcasing expertise in pricing strategies.
  • Understanding the buying life cycle is essential for the Senior Buyer.
  • Collaboration with the contracting team to ensure all documentation is completed accurately is a critical aspect of the role.
  • The Senior Buyer will handle the entire procurement process from initiation to completion.
  • Responding to approximately 6-7 procurement requests daily from various sources will be part of the Senior Buyer’s duties.
  • Complex and large-scale procurement processes will be managed by the Senior Buyer.
  • Data analysis related to procurement using Excel will be a significant responsibility.
  • The Senior Buyer will manage the team’s email inbox on designated days.
  • Oversight of the RFX process will be required.
  • Assisting fellow buyers and completing additional tasks and projects as needed will also be part of the role.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 years of procurement experience is required; more than 6 years is preferred if the candidate lacks a degree.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional environment and with diverse cultures is essential.
  • A degree is advantageous but not mandatory for candidates with relevant experience.
  • Strong administrative skills and experience are necessary.
  • Previous experience in the nonprofit sector is beneficial but not required.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Teams, and Excel (specifically pivot tables and VLOOKUPs), is expected.

Personality Traits:

  • The ideal candidate will effectively manage multiple procurement projects and possess experience in negotiating significant procurement agreements.
  • Self-management and the ability to stay focused on tasks are crucial.
  • Self-motivation is a key trait for success in this role.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • A collaborative spirit and experience working with diverse, multicultural, and cross-functional teams are preferred.
