Job Overview

Territory Sales Manager - Focused on direct sales to clients with an emphasis on fluid power systems. A foundational understanding of hydraulic components and systems, including hydraulic, electrical, controls, pneumatic, and mechanical/electromechanical hardware is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

Engage directly with clients primarily through in-person meetings to cultivate robust relationships and ensure customer satisfaction. Evaluate client requirements and recommend suitable products, services, and solutions. Drive new business opportunities, cross-sell, and secure repeat sales from both new and existing clients by formulating and executing sales strategies, identifying potential clients, and nurturing current client relationships. Prepare and present sales proposals, bids, and product demonstrations.

Essential Qualifications

Core responsibilities involve establishing and sustaining a customer base through proactive sales efforts and fostering positive relationships.

Main Duties:

  • Establish and nurture relationships with customers and vendors.
  • Market products to existing and prospective accounts while identifying and coordinating target accounts. Employ innovative problem-solving techniques.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments and personnel to guarantee customer satisfaction.
  • Aim to consistently enhance profitability by leveraging programs, promotions, and product support materials.
  • Enhance and maintain professional and technical knowledge through relevant industry associations while serving as a technical resource for colleagues.
  • Regularly communicate with management regarding sales objectives, market dynamics, challenges, and opportunities. Review all accounts, participate in training, and engage with factory representatives as needed.
  • Uphold the highest standards of customer service and ethical conduct.
  • Address and resolve all customer inquiries with a constructive approach.
  • Act as a technical advisor for clients and colleagues within the organization.
  • Maintain accurate and organized customer and catalog records as appropriate.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and organized workspace.
  • Adhere to stringent safety protocols.

Basic Requirements:

  • A minimum of two years of sales experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong relationship-building capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented with robust organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment.
  • Proficient in basic math functions and capable of understanding and applying more complex calculations such as gross profit/margin and averages.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Adept listener with above-average reasoning abilities and a track record of minimal errors. Quick learner capable of assimilating product knowledge and skills as they are introduced.
  • Experience in industrial distribution is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals and personalities.

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary plus commissions following the completion of the eligibility/waiting period.
