Position Overview

Position Title:
Lecturer in Technology and Information Management

Salary Range:
A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach a standard five-credit course is $9,322 - $19,518 (based on salary points 5-30). Compensation for Summer Session courses may differ from those taught during the academic year.

Percent Time:
Variable, depending on the assigned course load.

Anticipated Start:
Appointments are contingent on the instructional needs of the hiring unit and the availability of funding. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments made through the academic year.

Position Duration:
Appointments are typically made for one or more quarters of the regular academic year, but may also extend to Summer Session.

Position Description
The Technology and Information Management Program, part of the Baskin School of Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz, invites applications for a continuous pool of lecturers who may be appointed to instruct courses in technology management.

Current subject matter areas within Technology and Information Management include, but are not limited to:
  • Product Management
  • Product Development
  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Financial Engineering
  • Operations Research
  • Information Technology
  • Software Engineering
  • Data Mining
  • Information Retrieval
  • Machine Learning
Outstanding candidates with the expertise to teach in one or more of these areas are encouraged to apply. The campus is particularly interested in candidates who can enhance the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their teaching and other responsibilities.

Appointments are temporary and generally made for one quarter at a time, based on the evolving curricular needs of the department. Internal candidates will receive priority consideration.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications (required at time of application):
  • M.B.A. or an M.S. degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in fields such as computer science, economics, electrical engineering, industrial and systems engineering, management, operations research, statistics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience through college-level teaching, TA experience, research presentations, or professional development training seminars.
