Position Overview

We are seeking an IT Specialist to oversee and enhance our technological infrastructure. This role is crucial in maintaining the seamless operation of our computer systems, networks, software applications, and hardware. You will be the go-to person for technical support, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions that improve the efficiency and security of our IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Support:
    Provide first-level assistance to staff encountering IT-related challenges, including hardware, software, and network issues.
    Quickly troubleshoot and resolve IT problems to minimize operational disruptions.
    Support various devices, including desktops, laptops, smartphones, and printers.
  • Network Management:
    Assist in the configuration and upkeep of the local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN).
    Monitor network performance and proactively address potential issues to ensure consistent connectivity.
    Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls and antivirus software.
  • Software and Systems Management:
    Install, update, and maintain operating systems and software applications on employee devices.
    Oversee software licenses and ensure adherence to usage policies.
    Provide training and guidance on effective software utilization.
  • Hardware Maintenance:
    Conduct regular maintenance on computer hardware to ensure optimal performance.
    Coordinate repairs or replacements with external vendors as necessary.
    Maintain an inventory of IT equipment and keep accurate records.
  • Data Backup and Security:
    Implement and manage data backup procedures to protect critical information.
    Enforce data security protocols to safeguard against breaches.
    Conduct security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify risks.
  • IT Projects and Upgrades:
    Research emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to our IT capabilities.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    Maintain thorough documentation of IT systems and configurations.
    Generate reports on IT performance and incidents.
  • User Training and Education:
    Develop and conduct training sessions to improve employees' technical skills.
    Promote best practices to enhance overall technology literacy within the organization.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:
  • A Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong technical expertise in computer hardware, software applications, operating systems, and network administration.
  • Familiarity with network and security protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with staff at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with cloud services and ITIL best practices is advantageous.
  • Relevant certifications are a plus.
