Key Responsibilities

The Senior Project Manager is accountable for all facets of project execution within the organization. This role includes mentoring and developing project management personnel, collaborating with the general superintendent on field operations, and ensuring all projects meet quality, safety, and scheduling standards while surpassing client expectations. The position requires a commitment to ownership, accountability, and responsibility for project outcomes.

Project Management Duties

  • Oversee the execution of projects of varying sizes and manage multiple concurrent projects throughout their lifecycle.
  • Lead and guide other project managers and project management teams as necessary.
  • Act as a safety champion, fostering a secure work environment through regular safety meetings and employee engagement.
  • Identify necessary resources to meet project objectives and collaborate with company leadership to fulfill these needs.
  • Prepare preliminary assessments, technical solutions, fee proposals, and presentations.
  • Facilitate the transition of project management and engineering activities from design to construction and completion phases.
  • Maintain communication with the General Contractor, Architect, Engineer, Owner, and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies, goals, and objectives specific to project execution.
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and scopes of work.
  • Define roles and responsibilities for project management, engineering, and field staff.
  • Assist the business development team in responding to proposals and bids, ensuring excellent project execution to foster customer loyalty.
  • Evaluate site safety and implement measures to prevent injuries to personnel and property.
  • Ensure subcontractor and on-site personnel compliance with safety regulations.
  • Manage cash flow by establishing front-loaded schedules, accurate billing, and timely payment collections.
  • Coordinate necessary lien waivers, state notifications, and tax documentation.
  • Complete all required project closeout documentation.
  • Oversee all startup and warranty activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.

Project Controls Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed financial budgets and labor productivity targets.
  • Assume financial responsibility for projects, providing accurate and timely reporting to stakeholders.
  • Facilitate invoice payments from clients and to subcontractors.
  • Review and approve subcontractor billing.
  • Identify changes in project conditions, maintain a change proposal log, and estimate and negotiate change proposals.
  • Monitor, control, and report on project financial performance.
  • Document and resolve billing issues with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Draft subcontracts and purchase agreements.
  • Create and maintain both digital and hardcopy project files.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of essential project documentation.
  • Assess potential job cost impacts and manage change order requests.
  • Prepare or supervise the preparation of project initiation and closeout materials.
  • Review contracts, drawings, specifications, and other resources to address inquiries promptly.
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and equipment.
  • Evaluate bid estimates, develop cost codes, and establish definitive budgets.
  • Take responsibility for developing and implementing a comprehensive construction plan.
  • Drive cash flow across all projects, ensuring timely and accurate billing and collections.
  • Monitor progress towards goals to anticipate potential challenges.
  • Provide accurate and timely data to support project forecasts.

Team Leadership Responsibilities

  • Mentor project team members and other project managers.
  • Ensure training and development opportunities for all project managers.
  • Develop project staffing plans, including labor and subcontractors.
  • Establish and lead relevant meetings.
  • Define individual project responsibilities and accountabilities.
  • Uphold company culture and core values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
