Role Summary
The Senior Project Manager is tasked with overseeing the entire project execution process within the organization. This role involves mentoring and guiding project management personnel, collaborating closely with field leadership, and ensuring that all projects are completed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and timeliness, while consistently surpassing client expectations. The individual will take full ownership and accountability for project outcomes, fostering the development of fellow project managers and refining the company's project management methodologies. Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Oversee the execution of projects of varying sizes and manage multiple projects simultaneously throughout their lifecycle.
- Provide leadership to project managers and project management teams as necessary.
- Act as a safety champion, ensuring a secure work environment through regular safety meetings and proactive incident management.
- Identify and allocate necessary resources to meet project objectives in collaboration with company leadership.
- Prepare initial assessments, technical solutions, fee proposals, and presentations.
- Facilitate the transition of project management and engineering activities from design to construction and from construction to completion.
- Engage with General Contractors, Architects, Engineers, Owners, and other stakeholders effectively.
- Contribute to the development of strategies, goals, and objectives for project execution at every phase.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, and scopes of work.
- Clearly define project responsibilities for project management, engineering, and field teams.
- Assist the business development team in responding to proposals and bids, ensuring excellent project execution to build customer loyalty.
- Evaluate site safety and implement measures to prevent injuries and property damage.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations among subcontractors and all personnel on-site.
- Manage cash flow by establishing front-loaded schedules, ensuring timely billing, and overseeing payments to subcontractors.
- Coordinate the collection of necessary lien waivers and tax documentation.
- Complete all required project closeout documentation.
- Oversee all startup and warranty processes.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
Project Controls
- Achieve or exceed financial budgets and labor productivity targets.
- Assume financial responsibility for projects, providing accurate and timely reporting to stakeholders.
- Facilitate invoice processing for clients and subcontractors.
- Review and approve subcontractor invoices.
- Identify changes in project scope, maintain a change proposal log, and estimate and negotiate change orders.
- Monitor and report on the financial performance of projects.
- Document and resolve billing discrepancies with subcontractors and vendors.
- Draft and manage subcontracts and purchase agreements.
- Create and maintain organized project documentation.
- Prepare or oversee the preparation of essential project documents, including Submittals and Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
- Assess potential job cost impacts and manage change order requests.
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of Job Start and Project Closeout materials.
- Review contracts, drawings, and specifications to provide timely responses to inquiries.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and equipment.
- Evaluate bid estimates, develop cost codes, and establish definitive budgets.
- Take responsibility for creating and implementing a comprehensive construction plan.
- Ensure proper cash flow management across all projects, facilitating timely collections.
- Monitor progress towards project goals to identify potential issues early.
- Deliver accurate data to support project forecasting.
Team Leadership
- Mentor project team members and other project managers.
- Ensure ongoing training and development for all project managers.
- Develop staffing plans for projects, including labor and subcontractors.
- Lead project-related meetings and establish clear objectives.
- Define roles and responsibilities for each project team member.
- Promote and maintain the company culture and core values.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
