POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Business Relationship Manager is accountable for driving profitable business growth while overseeing a substantial portfolio of companies with annual revenues ranging from $50 million to $500 million within a designated region.
As a leader, you will coordinate with One Bank Partners to devise and execute a comprehensive relationship strategy for large, intricate clients and prospects.
A robust understanding of credit, commercial offerings, and financial analysis is essential to provide tailored banking solutions, such as loans, treasury management, and capital markets, based on client needs. Participation in public debt issuance for clients is also expected. Some professionals may focus on specific sectors, such as Health Care. Active involvement in community initiatives is a key aspect of this role.Accountability for risk management is crucial, involving open dialogue, raising concerns, and adhering to established policies and procedures.
Commitment to ethical practices is paramount, ensuring that all actions contribute positively to the customer experience.
While operating within the bank's risk framework, you will achieve results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting various risks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Development:
Independently identify and cultivate profitable new client relationships by leveraging existing networks and referral sources.
Foster long-term, profitable partnerships.Collaborate closely with internal Fifth Third partners to enhance existing relationships and attract new high-value prospects.
Engage in community and industry events to expand your network and deepen your understanding of market trends and competitive dynamics.
Portfolio Management:Collaborate with One Bank partners (Treasury Management, Capital Markets, Wealth Management, etc.) to assess and develop customized relationship strategies for each client or prospect.
Organize and lead relationship strategy review meetings with internal partners and clients' trusted advisors (e.g., attorneys, accountants).Ensure that client relationships are managed effectively to maximize opportunities for the bank while considering both risk and client needs.
Client Experience:Regularly meet with clients to strengthen the advisory relationship and ensure their business needs are met.
Oversee all client-facing activities, including credit support, treasury management, and capital markets.Utilize the bank's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system for tracking client interactions, call reports, and pipeline management. Encourage CRM usage among assigned Fifth Third partners for monitoring pre-call and post-call activities.
Employ consultative selling techniques and commercial playbook principles to enhance the client experience.
Credit Excellence:
Evaluate financial information to formulate pertinent questions regarding credit requests.
Collaborate with Portfolio Managers and Credit Officers on credit matters, adhering to established Portfolio Management guidelines.
Continuously monitor customer financial performance and industry trends to ensure credit exposure remains within acceptable risk levels.
SUPERVISORY ROLE:
No formal supervisory duties, but expected to provide guidance to junior Commercial Relationship Managers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business (e.g., Business Administration, Finance, Accounting) or equivalent experience preferred.
A minimum of 10 years in Commercial Banking is required.
At least 9 years of experience in relationship account management is preferred.
Formal commercial credit training or equivalent experience is necessary.
Experience in underwriting is preferred.
Demonstrated success in collaborating with investment bankers to provide strategic and capital market insights.
Strong business acumen, including detailed financial analysis and comprehension of accounting principles.
Thorough knowledge of Commercial, Treasury Management, and alternative financing options.
Ability to assess client needs and profitability drivers, optimizing financial solutions throughout the corporate lifecycle.
Exhibits strong presentation skills in various settings, effectively communicating with diverse audiences.
Demonstrated ability to identify and address business challenges and opportunities, creating relevant solutions to achieve desired outcomes.
Proven capability to influence client decisions regarding strategy and product offerings, engaging in collaborative business planning with internal partners.Effectively define tasks and resources, breaking them down into manageable components.
Proactively identify relationships that should be developed or enhanced to achieve business objectives and fulfill client needs.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in face-to-face negotiations.Proven ability to thrive in a team-oriented sales environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with CRM tools is preferred.
Willingness to travel regionally/local.
