Position Description: The University of California, Davis, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a dedicated professional for a full-time faculty role at the Assistant/Associate/Full level within the clinician/teaching series. This position entails serving as the Director of Psychological Services for the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and leading child psychological services at the Child Behavioral Health Clinic (CBHC). The IOP is tailored to assist adolescents facing mood and anxiety disorders that necessitate more intensive care than standard outpatient services. The program is supported by a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and trainees.

The CBHC functions as an academic outpatient psychiatry clinic, catering to a diverse patient demographic across the Northern California region. Our clinical team comprises psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, psychologists, and trainees, including medical students and psychiatry residents. We adopt a collaborative approach to mental health treatment, working closely with primary care providers and medical specialists.

This role includes administrative responsibilities overseeing psychological services within the IOP and child clinic operations, alongside providing direct clinical care at the CBHC. The incumbent will also supervise and mentor psychiatry and psychology trainees, with opportunities to engage in the development of innovative clinical programs. Experience in teaching and supervising child psychiatry and general psychiatry residents, fellows, and medical students is highly valued. Time will be allocated for didactic instruction, case discussions, and supervision. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be encouraged to participate in scholarly activities that support their clinical teaching and professional service.

The incumbent will be responsible for educating and supervising medical students, residents, and fellows, engaging with professional societies, and contributing to departmental and school committees. A commitment to fostering collegiality and collaboration in a diverse environment is essential, along with adherence to university policies.

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is home to approximately 65 residents across six residency training programs and 90 faculty and staff psychiatrists and psychologists. The incumbent will also collaborate with clinical and research initiatives at the UC Davis MIND Institute, contributing to a vibrant academic environment.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and have specialized training in assessing and treating children and adolescents with various mental health challenges. A minimum of two years of experience in an outpatient academic medical center is required. Candidates should be trained in evidence-based clinical interventions, with a preference for experience in cognitive-behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, and psychological assessment.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in evidence-based treatment for common conditions affecting children and adolescents is preferred. Candidates with a focus on health equity for diverse populations will be prioritized.

Application Requirements:

Applicants must submit a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae, a Cover Letter, a Statement of Teaching, and a Statement of Contributions to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Reference contacts (3-5) are also required.
