Position Overview

The primary focus of the department is currently on enhancing access to courses in research methods, statistics, and biological psychology, as these are integral to the core curriculum for the A.A./A.S./A.A.T. degrees in Psychology. The demand for these courses has surged, partly due to the growing popularity of Psychology degrees and college-wide curriculum modifications. Faculty members maintain inter-departmental collaborations with other institutions to ensure that AA-T requirements are met and/or surpassed.

  3. Preparation for upper division courses upon transfer, as well as various career paths such as nursing, sales and marketing, education, and law enforcement

Salary Information:
Initial salary placement is determined by academic qualifications, graduate-level coursework completed, and relevant professional experience according to the applicable faculty contract.

Key Responsibilities

The instructional duties may encompass, but are not limited to, teaching various levels of Psychology courses at the college, including:

  • Biological Psychology
  • Biological Psychology Laboratory
  • Research Methods in Psychology
  • Introductory Statistics for Behavioral Sciences
Required Qualifications
  1. A master's degree in psychology; OR, a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in counseling, sociology, statistics, neuroscience, or social work; OR, an equivalent qualification. All degrees must be from an accredited institution.
  2. A focus on equity, with sensitivity and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities, and the ability to foster an inclusive educational environment.
