Position Description

The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis is seeking up to two tenured full-time faculty members at the rank of associate or full professor. We welcome applications from scholars whose research aligns with the following key areas:

- Advancing healthy aging and family caregiving through innovative technology, including personalized digital health solutions, smart home technologies, and community-based interventions.

- Research focused on digital health equity and social justice, aimed at enhancing access to technology and health promotion initiatives for diverse older adults and their caregivers.

- Development of health systems and enabling technologies through human-centered design and community engagement with older adults.

- Methodological expertise in the development and co-validation of digital health devices, data integration and management techniques, predictive analytics, and/or artificial intelligence to improve quality care for older adults and their caregivers.

- Research experience in alignment with the Age-Friendly Health Systems initiative, encompassing shared decision-making, medication adherence, mobility, and cognitive health. Previous involvement in grant-funded projects within an academic health system alongside clinical scientists specializing in geriatrics, family nursing, medicine, psychology, psychiatry, neurology, and remote healthcare delivery.

In addition to research responsibilities, successful candidates may also develop or instruct courses within one or more of the school's academic or certificate programs.

The School of Nursing is integrated within UC Davis Health, an academic health center situated on a modern campus in Sacramento, California. This campus hosts the School of Medicine and medical center, a fully accredited children's hospital, an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center, a level I trauma center and burn unit, and a complete range of outpatient services. The campus also features the award-winning Betty Irene Moore Hall, which serves as an education center and library, along with the Telemedicine Resource Center and numerous other clinical, educational, and research facilities.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
A PhD or other doctorate (or equivalent international degree) along with teaching, mentoring, and research experience is required at the time of application. At least one degree in nursing or nursing science is essential.

Additional Qualifications:

  1. A demonstrated history of multidisciplinary collaboration with engineering and social science faculty, IT research infrastructure professionals, and technology industry partners.
  2. Proven ability to lead research teams, collaborate, mentor, and operate within interdisciplinary environments.
  3. Evidence of previous extramural funding in the relevant research areas.
  4. A strong commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion for historically underrepresented and marginalized communities is expected. Successful candidates will articulate how this commitment integrates with their teaching, research, and service.
  5. Excellence in teaching, demonstrating potential or evidence of ability to develop graduate-level nursing courses for both clinical and non-clinical programs, and to mentor doctoral nursing students.
  6. Excellence in service, showing potential or evidence of participation and leadership at the university, local, state, and national levels.

This full-time appointment will be at the rank of associate or full professor. Participation in school, college, and university service as a member of the UC Davis Division of the Academic Senate is expected under our faculty shared governance model.
