Role Description

HydroGeoLogic, Inc. is actively seeking a Senior Environmental Safety Officer to deliver on-site support for a long-term environmental remediation project. This role necessitates a full-time presence on the project site.

Key Responsibilities

What You Will Be Responsible For

The Senior Environmental Safety Officer will undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Formulating and evaluating project planning documents related to health and safety (APPs, AHAs, HASPs, etc.) to guarantee safe project execution by the field team.
  • Acting as the primary health and safety compliance liaison with field teams comprising HydroGeoLogic, Inc. staff, subcontractors, and client representatives.
  • Delivering daily on-site safety and health briefings to HydroGeoLogic, Inc. and subcontractor personnel.
  • Creating and maintaining precise and comprehensive health and safety documentation, including daily reports, inspection logs, non-conformance logs, and necessary corrective actions.
  • Updating AHAs as work progresses and communicating those updates with the project team.
  • Collaborating with HydroGeoLogic, Inc.'s construction and health and safety management teams to ensure adherence to project-specific and corporate protocols.
  • Implementing and enforcing on-site emergency response protocols.
  • Maintaining all required on-site health and safety documentation, including personnel certifications, orientation sheets, required signage, planning documents, and safety data sheets.
  • Leading internal and client-facing meetings regarding planned and completed health and safety activities.

Essential Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience as a health and safety officer on construction projects, with at least 3 years on projects involving environmental contamination.
  • Thorough knowledge of USACE Safety and Health Requirements Manual EM.
  • Experience with health and safety protocols related to air quality, hazardous waste, universal waste, investigation-derived waste, wastewater, stormwater, spill prevention, decontamination, and health and safety inspections.
  • Experience on environmental construction/remediation projects involving demolition, excavation, grading, and environmental sampling.
  • Familiarity with Federal (OSHA) and state occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Experience conducting project safety audits.
  • Exceptional communication, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment with corporate, project, and technical management personnel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and current 8-hour OSHA HAZWOPER refresher certifications.
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification.
  • Current CPR/First Aid training certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with USACE and EPA clients.
  • 8-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Supervisor Training.
  • OSHA 500, 502, and 510 certifications.
