Position: Environmental Health and Safety Manager

Your Role

This pivotal position is part of the senior management team at the facility, tasked with spearheading a thorough safety and wellness initiative through a proactive lens. Cultivating a Safety Culture where the safety and well-being of our team members is paramount is essential. This dynamic leader will engage with team members daily, promote safety messaging, and facilitate stretching exercises during shift meetings, while collaborating across departments to ensure effective safety training and compliance.

Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Plant Site Director and the Director of Safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a compassionate safety culture centered on people.
  • Oversee processes to guarantee a secure working environment every shift.
  • Guide the facility to achieve or surpass established corporate safety objectives aligned with business requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations while remaining updated on evolving requirements; manage audits and OSHA inspections as necessary.
  • Implement programs and training to acknowledge, reward, and promote safe practices throughout the facility.
  • Instill accountability among leaders to exemplify safe behaviors.
  • Address unsafe actions and conditions within the workplace.
  • Collaborate with the Site Director, HR, and Workers' Compensation experts on decisions related to injuries, leaves, and accommodations.
  • Maintain a strong sense of urgency in communication and proactively address issues.
  • Stay informed on trends and best practices within the safety community.
  • Ensure that data, compliance records, training, and reporting are accurate and in line with regulations, while extracting insights to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Build high-performing teams and nurture top talent.
  • Manage financial controls and budgeting for safety initiatives.
  • Provide coaching and leadership to others.
  • Adopt a caring and positive approach to influence and motivate team members.
  • Utilize whole systems thinking in problem-solving.
  • Effectively manage projects and processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, operations, engineering, business, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety is required.
  • Proven experience in influencing and training large manufacturing teams to foster a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Strong leadership skills with a servant leadership approach that aligns with our culture.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and machine guarding standards.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules as needed.
  • Experience collaborating with regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to prioritize and direct the activities of others effectively.
  • Comfort in engaging with leadership and influencing without formal authority.
  • Strong collaborative skills to achieve objectives with peers.
  • Strategic thinking to navigate complex issues and develop sustainable solutions.
