Role Description

HydroGeoLogic is currently in search of a Senior Environmental Safety Officer to provide on-site support for a long-term remedial action and construction project. This role necessitates a full-time presence on the project site.

Key Responsibilities

What You Will Be Responsible For

The Senior Environmental Safety Officer's responsibilities encompass:

  • Formulating and reviewing project planning documents related to health and safety to ensure safe execution by the field team.
  • Acting as the primary compliance contact for health and safety with field teams, including staff, subcontractors, and client representatives.
  • Delivering daily safety and health briefings to personnel on-site.
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive health and safety documentation, including daily reports, inspection logs, and corrective action records.
  • Updating health and safety plans as work progresses and communicating these updates with the project team.
  • Collaborating with management teams to ensure adherence to project-specific and corporate safety procedures.
  • Implementing and enforcing emergency response protocols on-site.
  • Maintaining all necessary health and safety documentation, including personnel certifications and required signage.
  • Leading meetings focused on health and safety activities with both internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience as a health and safety officer on construction projects, with at least 3 years in environmental contamination projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety and health requirements relevant to construction.
  • Experience with procedures related to air quality, hazardous waste, and health and safety inspections.
  • Background in environmental construction and remediation, including demolition and excavation.
  • Familiarity with Federal and state occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Experience conducting project safety audits.
  • Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Current certifications in OSHA HAZWOPER and CPR/First Aid.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with government clients.
  • Additional OSHA certifications.
