Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Site Safety and Health Officer to deliver on-site support for a long-term environmental remediation project. This role necessitates a full-time presence at the project site.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Site Safety and Health Officer will be responsible for:
- Creating and evaluating project safety plans and documents to ensure safe execution by the field team.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for health and safety compliance with field teams, including staff, subcontractors, and clients.
- Conducting daily safety briefings for personnel on-site.
- Maintaining comprehensive health and safety documentation, including daily reports, inspection logs, and corrective action records.
- Updating safety plans as work progresses and communicating changes to the project team.
- Collaborating with management teams to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Implementing and enforcing emergency response procedures on-site.
- Overseeing all necessary health and safety documentation, including personnel certifications and safety data sheets.
- Leading meetings focused on health and safety activities.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in health and safety roles within construction projects, with at least 3 years in environmental contamination projects.
- Strong knowledge of safety and health regulations.
- Experience with procedures related to air quality, hazardous waste, and health and safety inspections.
- Experience in environmental construction and remediation projects.
- Familiarity with Federal and state occupational health and safety regulations.
- Experience conducting safety audits.
- Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification and current 8-hour refresher certification.
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with government clients.
- 8-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Supervisor Training.
- OSHA 500, 502, and 510 certifications.
