In this pivotal role, you will oversee intricate engineering initiatives and work closely with diverse teams to innovate and apply cutting-edge manufacturing methodologies and technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize 2D and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks) to design and modify tools and gauges.
- Create CNC programs through CAM software, converting engineering designs and CAD models into detailed technical specifications.
- Refine machining operations by selecting optimal strategies, toolpaths, cutting parameters, and tooling.
- Develop and enhance tooling, fixtures, and workholding solutions for CNC machining tasks.
- Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing workflows for both machining and assembly processes.
- Establish and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and control plans.
- Conduct time studies and workflow assessments to identify opportunities for process enhancements and cost savings.
- Provide technical assistance to production teams to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing challenges.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure peak performance of machinery and equipment.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective measures to resolve quality concerns.
- Work alongside the Quality Department to develop and execute quality control strategies.
- Engage with Design teams to ensure the manufacturability of new products.
- Conduct pilot runs and validate processes to ensure readiness for production transition.
- Lead engineering projects from inception to execution, ensuring adherence to timelines and budget constraints.
- Stay abreast of advancements in manufacturing technologies, including CNC machining, robotics, automation, and additive manufacturing.
- Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of firearms safety protocols.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to acquire necessary equipment and materials.
- Assist the Manufacturing Manager in strategic planning and decision-making processes.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety enhancements to mitigate hazards.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering capacity.
- Demonstrated success in leading engineering projects and implementing process improvements.
- Strong grasp of machining processes, assembly methods, and manufacturing principles.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, HSM, Edgecam).
- Familiarity with firearms production, tooling, and gauges.
- Solid understanding of drafting standards and tolerances.
- Experience with inspection tools and equipment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to shifting priorities.
- General computer skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Commitment to following all established environmental safety protocols as mandated by OSHA and relevant agencies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to effectively collaborate with team members across all levels.
