Position Overview

The Emissions Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that our compression units operate safely and adhere to acceptable emissions standards. This position requires strict compliance with company protocols and the cultivation of strong customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately complete Emission Reports in accordance with Kodiak policies and submit them promptly to the Emissions Administrator.
  • Prepare service reports following the replacement of O2 sensors or completion of Quarterly Emissions Tests.
  • Timely and detailed submission of Expense Reports as per Kodiak guidelines.
  • Conduct emission tests on all assigned units quarterly or perform inspections to identify maintenance needs for compliance.
  • Ensure all data collection is thorough and accurate.
  • Oversee the installation and proper functioning of emission control systems.
  • Conduct Initial Compliance Tests (ICT) upon unit startup.
  • Perform pre-tests prior to state-mandated testing.
  • Be present for all state tests conducted.
  • Conduct quarterly tests on each unit for a minimum of 15 minutes or as required.
  • Tune engines to remain within permit limits.
  • Replace O2 sensors on rich burn engines.
  • Service and maintain catalysts on engines with 400HP or less, seeking assistance for larger engines as necessary.
  • Communicate mechanical issues that lead to non-compliance tests to Operations, along with recommendations.
  • Conduct follow-up tests for units that are out of compliance.
  • Dedicate one day per week to report preparation and submission.
  • Service the company truck once a month.
  • Maintain weekly communication with supervisors regarding compliance issues and schedule updates.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of the Testo Analyzer and calibration gases.
  • Foster effective communication with operations and customers.
  • Guarantee adherence to permit limits based on location and regulatory guidelines.
  • Participate in all mandatory safety and training programs.
  • Attend required tailgate safety meetings.
  • Assist in the review and enhancement of company safety policies and procedures.
  • Understand and comply with all Kodiak and customer safety protocols.
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents to the Supervisor or Manager.
Qualifications
  • 0-1 years of experience in natural gas compression or a related field.
  • Relevant education from OEM, trade school, or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong mechanical intuition and aptitude.
  • Familiarity with OEM and technical manuals.
  • Experience operating commercial vehicles and cranes.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • High organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Positive attitude and high energy level.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
  • Willingness to work overtime and non-traditional hours as needed.
  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders, and perform various physical tasks.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures.
  • Work in high noise environments (greater than 85 dBA) with appropriate hearing protection.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Endurance for standing, kneeling, bending, and twisting for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders up to 25 feet.
  • Proficient in using common hand tools relevant to job tasks.
