Core Responsibilities:

A Field Service Specialist (FSS) plays a vital role in the upkeep and servicing of USA Compression equipment, reporting directly to the Area Service Manager (ASM). This position requires a high degree of autonomy and responsibility, focusing on safe execution of scheduled maintenance, fostering customer relationships, and delivering prompt support for equipment issues. Key Duties:

  • Implement and oversee a routine maintenance schedule to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Adhere to the company handbook and all safety and environmental protocols.
  • Ensure operational efficiency of natural gas compression units in accordance with contractual obligations.
  • Collect and prepare critical operational data for timely reporting.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from the ASM or customers.
  • Assist in the installation of compression units and support customer installations.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Service Technician and ASM on significant repairs, escalating issues as needed.
  • Maintain and operate the company vehicle in compliance with guidelines.
  • Work alongside the sales team to identify potential sales or equipment opportunities.
  • Coordinate with the parts department to ensure adequate inventory for each unit.
  • Uphold cleanliness and safety standards for all assigned units.
  • Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  • This is a full-time hourly position.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with customers, vendors, and colleagues. Excellent customer service abilities are essential for success in this role.
  • Technical or vocational training, or relevant work experience in a related field.
  • Preferred minimum of 2 years’ experience in gas compression, with certifications in CAT, Ariel, and/or Cummins being advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • High mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals.
  • Capable of safely operating commercial-sized vehicles.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Experience in configuring natural gas compression systems.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including on-call weekends.
  • Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions from the company and supervisors.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Working Environment:
  • The typical workday for an FSS involves traveling to customer sites to conduct maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Physical requirements may include lifting over 50 lbs.
  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain, climb ladders, and perform various physical activities as required by specific tasks.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures based on job location.
  • Potential exposure to high noise levels requiring hearing protection, as well as hazardous materials.
  • Work conditions can vary significantly, with some tasks performed indoors and others outdoors.
