Overview:

Welcomes, guides, and organizes patient visits and inquiries. Acts as a bridge between patients and healthcare personnel. May assist with various operational tasks within the clinic. Confirms insurance coverage and facilitates referrals. Collects payments and prepares cash for banking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures a smooth patient check-in process, verifies personal and insurance details, and inputs data into the system. Guarantees accuracy in patient records.
  • Handles incoming calls, takes messages, and provides assistance with patient and staff requests.
  • Responds promptly to requests for patient account adjustments and/or updates.
  • Books appointments for patients in line with physician protocols.
  • Collects payments at the time of service; manages outstanding balances and/or sets up payment arrangements as needed.

The following tasks may also be undertaken:

  • Registers patients, confirms and updates essential information in the medical records. Aids patients in completing necessary documentation.
  • Schedules appointments based on clinician availability and adheres to office scheduling guidelines.
  • Assists front office leadership with additional administrative responsibilities such as front-end tasks, claim denials, work queues, and rectifying errors to ensure accurate claims.
  • Greets visitors and addresses standard inquiries for information.
  • Adheres to the CHRISTUS Health policies concerning the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), aimed at preventing unauthorized access to Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Maintains strict confidentiality.
  • Utilizes effective verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas clearly and positively, in alignment with the CHRISTUS Mission.
  • Follows established CHRISTUS Health policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Performs job duties in a manner consistent with the CHRISTUS Mission and Code of Ethics, supporting the cultural diversity objectives of CHRISTUS Health.
  • Supports and adheres to the CHRISTUS Service Guarantee.
  • Completes other related tasks as assigned by management.
