Overview:

Welcomes, guides, and organizes patients and visitors. Acts as a bridge between patients and healthcare personnel. May support various functions within the clinic. Confirms insurance coverage and aids in referral processes. Collects payments and prepares cash for bank deposits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures smooth patient check-in, verifies personal and insurance details, and inputs data into the electronic system. Guarantees accuracy of patient account information.
  • Handles incoming calls, takes messages, and assists with inquiries from patients and staff.
  • Responds promptly to requests for patient account adjustments and maintenance.
  • Books patient appointments following physician protocols.
  • Collects payments at the time of service; manages prior balances and sets up payment plans as needed.

Additional duties may include:

  • Registers patients, verifies and updates essential information in medical records, and assists patients in completing necessary documentation.
  • Schedules appointments according to clinician availability and adheres to office scheduling protocols.
  • Supports front office management with various administrative tasks such as handling denials, managing work queues, and correcting errors to ensure accurate claims.
  • Greets visitors and addresses routine inquiries for information.
  • Adheres to CHRISTUS Health policies regarding the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to prevent unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Utilizes effective oral and written communication skills to convey information clearly and positively, in alignment with the CHRISTUS Mission.
  • Follows established CHRISTUS Health policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance standards, safety protocols, and infection control measures.
  • Performs job duties in a manner consistent with the CHRISTUS Mission and Code of Ethics, supporting the organization's commitment to cultural diversity.

  • Completes other related tasks as assigned by management.
