Role Significance:
This role is pivotal in maintaining key major and national accounts through exceptional service and administrative excellence. Success in this position is achieved by cultivating robust relationships with clients and advocating for their needs within Blue Cross, thereby driving operational efficiency and executing the strategic business plan for accounts. Collaboration with account managers is essential to secure benefit confirmations and renewal decisions from clients, ensuring readiness for calls, claims, and access to care by the effective date. Involvement in new account implementations is also a key responsibility.

A Typical Day:
  • Foster strong, trustworthy relationships with clients to promote loyalty and retention.
  • Monitor financial performance of accounts by analyzing margin reports, billing statements, and enrollment figures. Identify opportunities for improvement and collaborate with various departments to ensure effective financial reporting.
  • Support operational success by pinpointing areas of concern and managing cross-functional initiatives to enhance claims performance, IT implementations, care management, and customer service.
  • Oversee the implementation of new clients, products, and member populations, as well as compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Coordinate with multiple departments including membership, benefits setup, contracts, service, claims, auditing, health management, and pharmacy management.
  • Manage specific projects for clients, including research, development, and negotiation of solutions. Influence clients to enhance efficiency and profitability while ensuring the accuracy of legal documents.
  • Accountable for client administrative and operational reporting, collaborating with account reporting and principal account managers to analyze spending trends and derive actionable insights.
  • Develop and execute effective member communication strategies, including client collateral, welcome packets, resource guides, and open enrollment meetings.
  • Represent major and national accounts in internal teams, driving resolution and progress on key operational performance metrics.
  • Act as the voice of the customer, conveying client expectations to internal teams and delivering educational presentations to existing clients.
  • Provide mentorship to new or junior Client Advisors.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Familiarity with Blue Cross and its affiliate products.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience, considering all applicable work, education, and transferable skills.
  • 3 years of experience in health plan account management, account services, or sales, with a focus on customer interaction and problem resolution.
  • Possession of a valid MN Resident Producer License in Life & Health/Accident within 60 days of employment.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on problem identification and resolution related to benefit plans.
  • Proven negotiation skills and the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand and respond to customer expectations, fostering an organizational culture that prioritizes client satisfaction.
  • Proficient in training and mentoring team members.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
