Position Title: Building Engineer – Union - Day Shift

Position Overview:

The Building Engineer is accountable for the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical systems within the facility. This role requires the ability to lift heavy equipment and work in varying environmental conditions. The engineer will respond to service requests and address emergency situations promptly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Install and maintain electrical circuits.
  • Repair plumbing fixtures and perform pipe work, including soldering and threading.
  • Prepare systems for maintenance by draining and securing them.
  • Conduct minor carpentry work, including ceiling tile replacement and door hardware repairs.
  • Perform basic electrical tasks, such as replacing bulbs and ballasts.
  • Maintain optimal performance of air handling units by cleaning coils.
  • Assemble and maintain chilled and hot water systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of emergency generators.
  • Order necessary materials for repairs.
  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks, including filter changes and lubrication.
  • Inspect and document the condition of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as required within the scope of the role.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in operating central plant equipment, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Proven ability to repair building electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Experience in safely securing hydronic and electrical systems for maintenance.
  • Competence in soldering and threading pipes.
  • Basic carpentry skills are essential.
  • Strong understanding of building auxiliary systems, including fire and life safety systems.
  • Familiarity with general building systems, such as vertical lifts and overhead doors.
  • A valid driver's license is required for vehicle operation.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices in maintenance operations.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing and lifting.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Work Schedule: Day Shift, Monday to Friday
