Position Title: Building Engineer – Union - Day Shift

Role Overview:

The Building Engineer is responsible for the effective operation, repair, and maintenance of various building mechanical and electrical systems. This role involves managing critical systems such as plumbing, air handling units, pumps, heat exchangers, and more. The position requires physical capability to handle heavy equipment and work in diverse environmental conditions. The engineer will respond to service requests and take prompt action during emergencies or system failures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Install and maintain electrical circuits.
  • Conduct repairs on restroom fixtures and plumbing systems.
  • Safely drain and secure systems for necessary repairs.
  • Perform minor carpentry tasks and maintain building aesthetics.
  • Execute minor electrical repairs, including bulb and ballast replacements.
  • Maintain optimal performance of air handling units by cleaning coils.
  • Assemble and maintain chilled and hot water systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections and operations of emergency generators.
  • Request materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks, including filter changes and lubrication.
  • Inspect and document mechanical and electrical systems, providing reports to supervisors.
  • Fulfill additional duties as required within the scope of responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in operating central plant equipment, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Proven expertise in repairing building electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to safely secure hydronic and electrical systems for maintenance.
  • Experience in brazing and soldering copper pipes and threading black pipes.
  • Basic carpentry skills are essential.
  • Strong understanding of building auxiliary systems, including fire-life safety and emergency generators.
  • Familiarity with general building systems, such as vertical lift equipment.
  • A valid driver's license is required for vehicle operation.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices typical in maintenance operations.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including using hand and power tools safely.

Work Schedule: Day Shift, Monday to Friday
