Position Title: Building Engineer – Union - Day Shift

Role Overview:

The Building Engineer is accountable for the operation, maintenance, and repair of various building mechanical and electrical systems. This role involves managing service requests, addressing emergencies, and performing routine inspections to ensure optimal functionality of all systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Install and troubleshoot electrical circuits.
  • Conduct repairs on plumbing fixtures and perform pipe work.
  • Safely drain and prepare systems for maintenance tasks.
  • Execute minor carpentry work and maintain interior fixtures.
  • Perform basic electrical maintenance, including bulb and ballast changes.
  • Maintain air handling units and ensure efficient heat exchange.
  • Manage chilled and hot water systems through installation and repairs.
  • Conduct routine inspections of emergency generators and their components.
  • Order necessary materials for repair tasks.
  • Engage in preventive maintenance, including filter changes and lubrication.
  • Inspect and document the condition of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Carry out additional duties as required within the scope of the role.

Qualifications:

  • At least five (5) years of experience in operating central plant equipment, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to repair building electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Proficient in safely securing systems for maintenance.
  • Experience in soldering and threading pipes.
  • Basic carpentry skills are essential.
  • Strong understanding of building auxiliary systems, including fire safety and emergency generators.
  • Familiarity with general building systems such as vertical lifts and overhead doors.
  • Valid driver's license required for vehicle operation.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices in maintenance operations.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and climbing.
  • Skilled in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Work Schedule: Day Shift, Monday to Friday
