Position: Field Services Technician – Energy & Infrastructure Solutions

Department: Energy & Infrastructure Solutions / Field Engineering

Role Summary

The Field Services Technician will deliver Technical Advisory Services (TAS) focused on the commissioning and warranty support of solar photovoltaic (PV) inverters and related electrical systems, ensuring adherence to project timelines and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commission solar PV inverters in accordance with project specifications.
  • Collect relevant data from authorized sources to evaluate project needs in relation to assigned tasks.
  • Strictly follow all company commissioning protocols and checklists.
  • Troubleshoot, rectify, and document any issues encountered during commissioning or warranty support.
  • Update project documentation and drawings to reflect 'as installed' conditions.
  • Lead components of the client Final Acceptance Test when designated.
  • Participate in factory witness tests to confirm equipment meets required specifications prior to site arrival.
  • Collaborate with vendors to address potential and identified issues based on testing outcomes.
  • Educate clients on system maintenance and operation to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
  • Train fellow field service staff on company processes and product solutions to ensure effective project execution.
  • Identify new, site-specific opportunities through client interactions and propose suitable solutions to management.
  • Provide regular, precise commissioning status updates and testing reports to relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain up-to-date safety qualifications relevant to assigned tasks and comply with both company and client safety protocols.
  • Manage site schedules, coordinating personnel to adhere to all site procedures and regulations, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Ensure the availability and proper condition of safety equipment as assigned.

QualificationsMinimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of experience in commissioning and servicing power distribution, power electronic, and rotating machine products.
  • Proven presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement in assigned responsibilities.
  • Established successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, software programming languages, and simulation tools.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 75% of the time, often with limited notice.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures.
  • Capability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods on hard surfaces.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years of experience in commissioning power distribution, power electronic, and rotating machine products.
  • Experience with Utility Scale Solar PV Inverters.
  • Familiarity with TMEIC engineering tools and product configuration tools.
  • Established successful working relationships with foreign parent or subsidiary companies.
  • Proven success in coordinating the work of others to achieve assigned objectives.
