We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer/Planner to enhance our Sourcing and Materials team. This role is crucial in managing procurement and inventory planning to ensure that essential materials, components, and products are available as needed to meet production timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Sourcing and Materials Manager to identify and select suppliers and materials, ensuring timely procurement of electrical components and raw materials.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Assess supplier performance, monitor metrics, and report findings to the Sourcing and Materials Manager.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of an accurate inventory plan that aligns with production needs while minimizing surplus stock.
  • Assist in the creation, maintenance, and auditing of safety stock and field service inventories.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and provide insights to enhance turnover rates.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, sales, quality, and engineering, to collect data for precise demand forecasting.
  • Support the Sourcing and Materials Manager in utilizing historical data for future demand projections.
  • Help generate production schedules based on demand forecasts, lead times, and capacity limitations.
  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure the timely execution of manufacturing processes and the delivery of necessary raw materials.
  • Follow up with suppliers regarding late orders, informing the Sourcing and Materials Manager and updating systems as needed.
  • Work with the Sourcing and Materials Manager to monitor and analyze procurement costs, identifying opportunities for savings without sacrificing quality.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards in all procurement activities.
  • Maintain accurate and current records of purchasing transactions, contracts, lead times, and supplier information.
  • Notify the Sourcing and Materials Manager of any invoice discrepancies with vendors for further investigation and chargeback initiation.
  • Regularly update the purchasing data dashboard with assistance from the sourcing manager.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in procurement, sourcing, and planning within a manufacturing context is preferred.
  • Proficient in ERP systems, inventory management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with team members, vendors, and clients.
  • Familiarity with electrical components and their specifications is advantageous.
