We are currently looking for a proactive and meticulous Buyer/Planner to join our Sourcing and Materials team. This role is crucial in facilitating procurement and inventory planning to ensure that essential materials, components, and products are available in a timely manner to meet production demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Sourcing and Materials Manager to identify and select materials and suppliers, ensuring prompt procurement of electrical components, raw materials, and other necessary supplies.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Assess supplier performance, monitor supplier metrics, and relay findings to the Sourcing and Materials Manager.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of an accurate inventory plan that aligns with production needs while minimizing surplus stock.
  • Assist in the creation, maintenance, and auditing of safety stock and field service inventories.
  • Conduct regular audits and provide insights aimed at optimizing inventory turnover.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, sales, quality, and engineering, to gather data for precise demand forecasting.
  • Support the Sourcing and Materials Manager in leveraging historical data for future demand projections.
  • Help generate production schedules based on demand forecasts, lead times, and capacity constraints.
  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure the timely execution of manufacturing processes and the delivery of raw materials.
  • Follow up with vendors regarding late orders, notify the Sourcing Manager and Materials Manager, and update systems accordingly.
  • Work with the Sourcing and Materials Manager to monitor and analyze procurement costs, identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards in all procurement activities.
  • Maintain accurate and current records of purchasing transactions, contracts, lead times, and supplier information.
  • Notify the Sourcing and Materials Manager of any invoice discrepancies with vendors for further investigation and to initiate chargebacks as necessary.
  • Maintain a purchasing data dashboard on a weekly basis, with the assistance of the sourcing manager.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in procurement, sourcing, and planning within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Proficient in ERP systems, inventory management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with team members, vendors, and clients.
  • Familiarity with electrical components and their specifications is advantageous.
