Role Summary

The Field Services Technician will deliver Technical Advisory Services (TAS) for the commissioning and warranty support of solar photovoltaic (PV) inverters and related electrical systems, ensuring adherence to project timelines and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commission solar PV inverters according to project specifications.
  • Collect essential information from authorized sources to evaluate project needs related to the assigned scope of work.
  • Adhere strictly to all company commissioning protocols and checklists.
  • Troubleshoot, rectify, and document any issues encountered during commissioning or warranty support.
  • Update project documentation and drawings to reflect 'as installed' conditions.
  • Lead components of the client Final Acceptance Test when designated.
  • Participate in factory witness tests to confirm equipment specifications prior to site arrival.
  • Collaborate with vendors to address potential and identified issues based on testing outcomes.
  • Provide training to clients on system maintenance and operation to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Educate fellow field service personnel on company processes and product solutions to facilitate successful project execution.
  • Identify new site-specific opportunities through client communication and recommend suitable solutions to management.
  • Deliver regular, accurate commissioning status and testing reports to relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain current safety qualifications relevant to assigned tasks and comply with both company and client safety standards.
  • Manage site schedules, coordinating personnel to follow all site procedures and regulations, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Ensure the availability and functionality of safety equipment as required.

QualificationsMinimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of experience in commissioning and servicing power distribution, power electronic, and rotating machine products.
  • Proven presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement in assigned responsibilities.
  • Successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts.
  • Strong personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, software programming languages, and simulation tools.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 75% of the time, often with limited notice.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures.
  • Capability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods on hard surfaces.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years of experience in commissioning power distribution, power electronic, and rotating machine products.
  • Experience with Utility Scale Solar PV Inverters.
  • Familiarity with TMEIC engineering tools and product configuration tools.
  • Successful working relationships with foreign parent or subsidiary companies.
  • Proven success in coordinating the work of others to achieve assigned objectives.
