Position Overview

The Retreat is dedicated to fostering a community free from intimate partner violence and abuse. We provide essential services including counseling, legal assistance, shelter, and educational programs at no cost to those affected by abuse or sexual assault.

Role Summary:

The Bilingual Prevention Education Outreach Specialist plays a crucial role in promoting healthy relationships and preventing abuse within the community. This position involves raising awareness about The Retreat's services and engaging with individuals through educational outreach.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct workshops in schools and community settings focused on abuse prevention, healthy relationships, and bullying, delivered in both English and Spanish.
  • Enhance community engagement through outreach initiatives, utilizing traditional and digital media platforms.
  • Translate educational materials and facilitate workshops in both languages, ensuring accessibility for diverse audiences.

Program Development:

  • Adapt and create educational content tailored to the needs of various audiences, ensuring relevance and effectiveness.
  • Deliver crisis response programming aimed at addressing youth mental health and social challenges.
  • Lead workshops designed to empower teens and promote respect within the community.

Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Implement evaluation methods to assess the impact of educational programs and workshops.
  • Prepare reports detailing program outcomes for funding and evaluation purposes.

Community Outreach:

  • Participate in community events to promote awareness of The Retreat's services.
  • Coordinate outreach efforts and build relationships with local schools and agencies.
  • Support students by providing referrals to counseling and other necessary services.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Education, or a related field, along with a minimum of two years of experience in community outreach, education, or social services. A strong understanding of issues related to sexual assault and domestic violence is essential.

Required Skills:

  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with diverse groups, including students and educators.
  • Experience in delivering educational content in group settings.
  • Proficiency in utilizing social media for outreach and engagement.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Additional Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are necessary.
  • Background checks are mandatory prior to employment.
