Position Title: Special Education Teacher

Reports To: Director of Academics

Location: North Hampton, New Hampshire

Employment Type: Full-time, Day Shift, Monday through Friday

The Special Education Teacher plays a vital role in fostering a safe and supportive environment for students engaged in the academic curriculum. This position involves collaborating with the entire educational team to ensure the well-being of students.

Working hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with a year-round academic program, excluding designated vacation periods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to meet the individual needs outlined in students' IEPs and core subject areas.
  • Create engaging, project-based assignments and utilize diverse assessment methods to enhance student learning.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing timely feedback and quarterly grades.
  • Collaborate with the academic and treatment teams to ensure effective supervision and education of students.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including lesson plans, progress reports, and IEP evaluations.
  • Participate in ongoing curriculum development and professional training as required.
  • Oversee and guide teaching assistants in collaboration with the Dean of Students and Academic Director.
  • Engage in faculty meetings and contribute to school-wide initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field is required.
  • Current certification by NHDOE in Special Education or enrollment in an approved certification program.
  • Preferred: BA in a specific academic discipline (e.g., English, Math, Science).
  • Preferred: NH DOE certification/teaching license.
  • Two or more years of experience in general or special education, ideally at the middle or high school level.
  • Experience working with youth in various capacities, such as coaching or mentoring, is advantageous.
