Position Summary:
The Client Support Specialist plays a vital role in delivering holistic services to individuals and families residing in supportive housing environments. This position encompasses a range of responsibilities including assessment, case strategy formulation, and the development of a personalized Independent Living Plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct intake assessments for families referred to the program.
- Manage a caseload of families and children in need of support.
- Perform home visits regularly to discuss and review residents' Independent Living Plans.
- Facilitate bi-weekly meetings to evaluate client progress.
- Provide immediate crisis intervention and short-term counseling services.
- Offer guidance and information to families regarding available services and planning for permanent housing.
- Advocate for clients in securing public assistance and entitlements.
- Maintain comprehensive case records and prepare statistical reports.
- Mediate conflicts within living arrangements.
- Lead group sessions and educational workshops for community engagement.
- Assist clients in navigating challenges related to their transition to permanent housing.
- Act as a liaison between families and various service agencies.
- Handle routine administrative tasks including correspondence and file management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Essential Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proactive and organized approach.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Educational Background:
- A Master's degree in Social Work or a related field is preferred, along with at least one year of relevant experience; or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of experience in case management.
- Experience working with homeless families and familiarity with homelessness issues is advantageous.
- Proficiency in computer applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher is required.
- Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are preferred.
- Compensation: $42,000 - $47,000 annually, based on experience.
