Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a FLL Program Assistant Intern. This role is designed for those who are passionate about youth development and eager to gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment.

Compensation

The internship offers a stipend of $1,800, disbursed in bi-weekly payments.

Eligibility

Applicants must be at least 17 years old.

Internship Goals

The primary objective of this internship is to assist our Competitive First Lego League teams while providing the intern with valuable experience in the youth development sector. This program allows children to engage with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in an exciting way, helping them discover their interests and deepen their understanding.

Intern Responsibilities

Interns will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and implement engaging curriculum.
  • Assist in program planning and execution.
  • Participate in regular meetings with a supervisor for progress reviews and feedback.
  • Learn about creating inclusive environments and fostering equitable participation.
  • Access professional development resources, including online courses and resume-building support.
Key Responsibilities

As an intern, you will:

  • Build positive relationships with youth and support their growth.
  • Create and facilitate engaging activities and games.
  • Recognize and promote social and emotional learning opportunities.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive physical and emotional environment.
  • Communicate effectively with program management regarding needs and challenges.
Qualifications

While we encourage applicants who meet all qualifications, we also welcome those with relevant experience or a strong desire to learn. Desired qualifications include:

  • Experience working with elementary-aged youth or a demonstrated eagerness to learn.
  • Familiarity with best practices in teaching, group management, and social-emotional learning.
  • Knowledge of block-based coding and Lego robotics is a plus.
