Position Overview

Position Title: YouthLine Outreach Coordinator, Central Oregon
Status: Full-Time/Non-Exempt
Reports To: YouthLine Deputy Director, Central Oregon
Compensation: $21-24/hour plus comprehensive insurance benefits, matching 401k retirement plan, professional development funds, and a complimentary fitness tracker. Mileage reimbursement for travel between work sites is also provided.

We strive to provide support and hope to individuals and communities while promoting mental health awareness. Our initiatives encompass a wide range of needs, including intervention, prevention, and advocacy. We are committed to educating, training, and advocating to prevent crises related to substance abuse, mental health issues, and suicidal thoughts. In times of crisis, we offer personalized support 24/7/365.

Role Responsibilities

The YouthLine Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Exemplifying the culture of Lines for Life by embodying the organization's values and mission.
  • Coordinating with school contacts in the region to arrange logistics for classroom outreach.
  • Building new partnerships with schools in Central Oregon to expand YouthLine outreach.
  • Delivering educational presentations in middle and high schools to raise awareness about youth mental health, suicide prevention, self-injury, and related topics.
  • Organizing regional outreach activities to enhance YouthLine's visibility across the state.
  • Collaborating with the Deputy Director to develop and execute an annual outreach strategy.
  • Assisting in the implementation of the YouthLine social media strategy for Central Oregon.
  • Working with the outreach team to meet grant and contract requirements.
  • Mentoring interns and volunteers during outreach activities.
  • Partnering with coordinators in Portland to recruit a diverse volunteer group for YouthLine.
  • Facilitating outreach training for new volunteers and interns.
  • Participating in monthly meetings and training sessions for YouthLine volunteers.
  • Identifying partnership opportunities and resource referrals to support outreach efforts, particularly among underserved communities.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (Social Work, Counseling, Education, etc.)
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with youth.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for outreach in remote areas.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Proven ability to build rapport and mentor young individuals.
  • Experience in teaching or facilitating group presentations.
  • Strong networking skills across diverse communities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Experience in community engagement.
  • Group management experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Intermediate skills in social media.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with professionalism.

Preferred:

  • Crisis Intervention Training (e.g., ASIST, safeTALK, Youth Mental Health First Aid).
  • Experience with social media outreach.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches.
Travel & Schedule Requirements

This role necessitates regular travel throughout Central Oregon for outreach events and meetings with community partners. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, as some evenings and weekends may be required.

Compensation Package

The starting wage for this position ranges from $21 to $24 per hour, based on relevant education and experience. Lines for Life offers a comprehensive benefits package valued at over $9500, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, a matching 401k plan, a flexible spending plan, and an employee assistance program.
