The Victims' Assistance Program (VAP) operates within the District Attorney's Office, focusing on supporting crime victims throughout Deschutes County. This program's primary goal is to assist victims in navigating the complexities of the criminal justice system and to provide resources that facilitate their recovery and stabilization following a crime. Our dedicated team ensures that victims receive compassionate treatment and are actively involved in a restorative process that mitigates the impact of crime.

ABOUT THE JOB:
The Administrative Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing a range of administrative functions for the Victims' Assistance Program within the District Attorney's Office. Key responsibilities include supervising staff, managing special projects, and providing technical support to ensure effective services are delivered to crime victims in accordance with relevant laws and departmental policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily operations of the Victims' Assistance Program; manage workload distribution; coordinate and prioritize tasks and projects; mentor and train staff; assess performance and foster skill development.
  • Conduct and manage assigned projects and research initiatives; identify and resolve operational challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory programs and departmental standards.
  • Prepare documentation to support administrative decisions and policy updates.
  • Review and manage documents related to budgets, contracts, and expenditures; recommend process enhancements.
  • Provide caseworker services to assist victims of complex and sensitive crimes as needed.
  • Collaborate with judicial and legal entities to uphold victims' rights.
What You Will Bring:
Knowledge of or experience with:
  • County operations, policies, and procedures.
  • District Attorney's Office protocols and functions.
  • State regulations governing victims' rights in both juvenile and adult justice systems.
  • Management of official documents and court records.
  • Legal procedures and law enforcement protocols.
Skills in:
  • Staff supervision, task delegation, and performance coaching.
  • Data analysis, report preparation, and record maintenance.
  • Building cooperative relationships with colleagues, legal professionals, and law enforcement.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Grant writing and program management.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Business or Public Administration or a related field;
  • AND four (4) years of administrative support and records management experience, including one year in a supervisory role;
  • OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge for the position.
Special Requirements:
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire. Candidates must pass a pre-employment screening for criminal history and driving history.
