Position Overview

As a Hardware Quality Assurance Engineer at Staffing Technologies, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and performance of server hardware and associated documentation in alignment with the Product Requirements Document (PRD).

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the functionality of server hardware, mechanical components, and user manuals against established Product Requirements Document (PRD).
  • Evaluate features and performance utilizing accelerated stress testing and margin analysis techniques.
  • Formulate life testing strategies and supervise the execution of tests.
  • Establish testing protocols for the qualification of server components, including but not limited to disk drives, peripheral cards, and memory modules.
  • Authorize components for integration into new and existing designs, creating necessary documentation and writing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Assist in the validation and documentation of prototype systems for customer evaluations in early development stages.
  • Conduct failure analysis to identify root causes of field returns and manufacturing yield challenges, collaborating with suppliers as necessary to achieve results. Implement corrective engineering actions when required.
  • Engage in the Change Control Board for the review and approval of ECOs.
  • Gain insights into the company's operations as appropriate. Maintain punctuality and adhere to scheduled work hours.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or department head.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, along with 3-5 years of relevant industry experience.

Essential Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a team of engineers to develop appropriate testing strategies.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems in a server context.
  • Demonstrated expertise in standardized computer server testing software.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems involving high-speed digital and analog power subsystems.
  • Familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and bus analyzers.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols including Ethernet, Fiber Channel, USB, and SCSI/iSCSI.
  • Understanding of PC-based server architectures and various peripheral components.
  • Familiarity with server-class processors and chipsets such as Intel Pentium, Xeon, and AMD Celeron, Opteron.
  • Knowledge of interface and bus standards including ATA/SATA, SCSI/Ultra SCSI/iSCSI, Ethernet, Fiber Channel, USB, and RS232.
  • Experience with server components, including hard disk drives (IDE, PATA, SATA, SCSI/uSCSI), network interface cards, bus extenders, and RAID controllers.
  • Ability to create detailed and accurate test plans.
  • Proficient in documenting and tracking test progress while working independently.
  • Familiarity with CAE/CAD tools for schematic and board layout review.
  • Commitment to following all applicable Business Management System (BMS) processes.
