Job Overview

North American Renewables, Inc. is in search of a dedicated EIT Project Civil Engineer. We are seeking an individual who is proactive and possesses expertise in the standards and practices of Civil Engineering, particularly for ground-mounted renewable energy projects. This role involves collaboration with both internal teams and external partners to design, assess, and provide insights on Civil Engineering matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate development packages submitted by clients for design inconsistencies, opportunities for value engineering, and coordination of civil engineering and permitting requirements.
  • Create bid and construction-ready civil engineering plans, including designs for erosion control, grading, and stormwater management.
  • Review civil engineering submissions and RFIs during the construction phase, including the development of truck turning models.
  • Collaborate with design engineers across various disciplines to ensure a unified plan package for bidding and construction.
  • Conduct hydrology analyses and stormwater management calculations.
  • Assist in establishing standards for the layout and design of civil components in project construction, inspections, and administration.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and updating of engineering design and documentation standards.
  • Review and provide feedback on plans and documents from external civil engineers to ensure quality and value engineering prior to bidding/construction.
  • Examine contract documents to confirm that the client's requested scope is feasible and offer guidance to the contracts team regarding necessary scope and potential challenges. Liaise with clients on technical contractual matters as needed.
  • Perform site visits to document unanticipated site conditions, including preconstruction meetings and site meetings on active projects to address field inquiries.
  • Work closely with project management and external engineers throughout construction to ensure prompt responses to field questions and inquiries from external engineering teams.
  • Coordinate survey work as necessary for documenting site conditions.
  • Assist with permitting processes and collaborate with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) throughout the EPC process to facilitate smooth building permit approvals and the closeout of permit documents upon project completion.

General Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • EIT certification is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in civil land development is required.
  • Experience in solar land development is preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is essential.
  • Proficiency in HydroCAD is required.
  • Experience with Vehicle Tracking Swept Path Analysis is necessary.
  • Field experience in construction-level civil engineering is preferred.
